Kampala to Nyabitaba Hut
After your trekking preparations and briefing at Nyakabitaba, begin your private Rwenzori trek from approximately 1,646 metres. The trail initially passes through cultivated areas before entering the forest zone of the Rwenzori Mountains. Follow the route along the Mubuku River and gradually gain elevation through lush vegetation. As you climb, enjoy the changing forest environment and opportunities to observe mountain wildlife and birdlife. Depending on conditions, you may encounter species such as colobus monkeys, blue monkeys and the colorful Rwenzori turaco. Continue along the forest trail before reaching Nyabitaba Hut at approximately 2,652 metres. Settle into the hut, enjoy dinner and spend the night.

Nyabitaba Hut to John Matte Hut
After breakfast, leave Nyabitaba Hut and descend briefly through the forest toward Kurt Shaffer Bridge, located near the confluence of the Mubuku and Bujuku rivers. Cross the bridge and continue through bamboo forest as the trail gradually gains elevation. The route becomes more challenging as you encounter rocky and sometimes slippery sections before reaching the Nyamuleju area. Continue into the higher vegetation zone characterized by giant heather, lobelia and giant groundsel. Depending on weather conditions, views toward Mount Stanley and Mount Speke may be visible. Continue across the high-altitude terrain and boggy sections before reaching John Matte Hut at approximately 3,414 metres. Enjoy dinner and spend the night at the hut.

John Matte Hut to Bujuku Hut
After breakfast, continue from John Matte Hut toward Bujuku Hut. The trail descends to cross the Bujuku River before entering the Lower Bigo Bog. Carefully cross the boggy terrain while following your private guide and support crew. Continue through the Bigo Bog toward Bujuku Lake, where the surrounding mountain scenery becomes increasingly dramatic. Depending on weather conditions, you may enjoy views toward Mount Baker and Mount Stanley. Proceed toward Bujuku Hut at approximately 3,962 metres, located in a mountain valley beneath the surrounding peaks. After arrival, settle into the hut, enjoy your evening meal and rest overnight.

After breakfast, leave Bujuku Hut and continue toward the high-altitude section of the Central Circuit. The route passes through challenging terrain and climbs toward Scott-Elliot Pass at approximately 4,372 metres, one of the highest points on the Central Circuit. Take time to appreciate the dramatic mountain scenery and surrounding peaks before beginning the descent toward the Kitandara Valley. Continue through the rugged alpine environment toward Kitandara Hut at approximately 4,023 metres, where you will enjoy dinner and spend the night.

After breakfast, begin the descent from Kitandara Hut and continue through the high-altitude landscape toward Guy Yeoman Hut. The trail passes through remote mountain terrain, with changing vegetation and dramatic views of the surrounding Rwenzori peaks. Continue across the Freshfield Pass area before gradually descending toward lower elevations. The terrain can be wet, muddy and slippery in places, so maintain a steady pace and follow your guide's instructions carefully. Reach Guy Yeoman Hut at approximately 3,261 metres, where you will have dinner and spend the night.
