After breakfast at your lodge then on agreed time you will be picked up and you will then be taken on a brief city sightseeing of Kigali City. Key among the places you shall be visiting is the Gisozi Genocide Memorial. also known as Kwibuka Museum – Kwibuka means ‘remember’ in Kinyarwanda, Rwanda’s language. About 800,000 people died during a mass slaughter over 100 days. Every year Rwanda commemorates the horrific events of 1994, which in Rwanda are officially called the Genocide against the Tutsi. Kigali Genocide Memorial is located in Gisozi, 10 minutes drive from the centre of town. If time allows, we shall also visit local markets and a craft market before we embark on our drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Pass by mountains, tropical rainforest and bamboo forest during the journey. Golden Monkey Trekking then transfer to Kigali City
After an early breakfast set off for the national park for the golden monkey tracking experience. The monkeys are primarily to be found in the bamboo forest that skirt the lower slopes of the volcanoes. The monkeys are very active in the canopy of the bamboo where your guides mimic their calls to follow the group. With only a small number remaining in the world, the Golden Monkey can be found in the foothills of the volcanic mountains of Mgahinga National Park in Uganda and in Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. Characterized by its bright golden body, cheeks and tail, with contrasting black limbs, crown and tail end, these playful primates are a pleasure to watch.
