Transfer from Arusha to Moshi

You will be transferred from Arusha to your luxury hotel in Moshi. On arrival, you will meet your Kilimanjaro guide following a briefing of about your upcoming Kilimanjaro trek and conduct an equipment check to ensure you have all the most important Kilimanjaro gears. Any missing equipment can be rented on this day on one of our rental store in Moshi town.

In the morning you will drive for about 2 to 3 hours to the Lemosho Gate – Kilimanjaro National Park for registration and entrance permit. This day will be one of your most scenic and longest hiking trails on Mount Kilimanjaro. The first trek involves a 3 to 4-hour trail to the Shira I Campsite, for about 7 kilometers, followed by a lunch and rest. Then, proceed with 4 to 5 hours climbing an additional 9 kilometers. In this part of the climbing trip, you traverse the heart of the Shira Plateau—via the most stunning moorland zone of Kilimanjaro Park, before reaching your final camp of a day for rest and overnight at Shira II camp set at the base of an impressive lava flow.

You will luxury climb of an approximately 9 kilometers, taking about 6 to 8 hours beginning with a Kilimanjaro climb over steep hills and scattered rocks, followed by a gradual trek on Kilimanjaro toward the Lava Tower Camp of Mount Kilimanjaro, which stands at 4,600 meters—a 150-meter-high volcanic plug where you’ll get a lunch. At this altitude, you may begin to experience a mild headache due to the high climbing elevation during the climb. After reaching the Lava Tower Camp, you’ll continue roughly for two hours along a dusty, rocks before reaching at Kilimanjaro’s Barranco Camp for rest and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, you will leave the Barranco Camp passing via the Barranco wall, to the Kilimanjaro’s Karanga Camp, you will have a delicious lunch at Karanga Camp and acclimatize for a few minutes before proceeding to the Barafu Camp (4673m). At this point, you have completed the Southern Circuit of Mount Kilimanjaro, which offers views of the Kibo summit from many different angles. Here you can make camp, rest, and get a dinner, and prepare for the Peak summit day. The two Kilimanjaro peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be seen from this position. You will cover the distances of 9 kilometers about 8-10 hours and you will be in the alpine desert – Mount Kilimanjaro.

The push summit begins at midnight times with a challenging push (climb) over steep rocks for about 2 to 3 hours. After that, you will hike a zigzag way to the nearby crater rim of Mount Kilimanjaro, eventually reaching Stella Point at 5,756 meters around 6:00 AM. Then at Stella Point, you are likely to meet other Kilimanjaro climbers from other routes such as Marangu, Rongai, and Northern Circuit Route all together you continue for about an hour to reach the Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters). Along the trail, or at the Uhuru Peak, you will witness the most stunning sunrise from different parts of Mount Kilimanjaro. After spending 10 to 20 minutes at the Kibo peak for photos and to enjoy the view, you’ll begin your descent back to Barafu Camp for a well-deserved rest and lunch. You will then proceed with descending back to the Barafu Camp then Mweka Camp. The total climbing distance involves a 5 km Kilimanjaro climbing up and a 12 km descent down, with trekking times of approximately 7–8 hours up and 4–6 hours down to Mweka Camp (3,100 meters).

After breakfast, you will begin your final descend to the Mweka Gate Kilimanjaro (1,640m), where you will receive your summit success certificates. This route at the lower elevations can be wet and muddy, so gaiters and trekking poles are recommended to have. Light clothes such as shorts and T-shirts should be sufficient, but keep your rain gear and warmer layers mostly accessible. Upon reaching at the Mweka Gate - Kilimanjaro, our vehicle will be waiting for you to transfer you back to your luxury hotel in Moshi, where you can enjoy a hot shower and rest. The descent covers approximately distance of 10 kilometers that takes approximately 3 to 4 hours, passing via a lush rainforest.
